Yeeeeeee-haw!

remnantsbyrj.etsy.com

Dart isn't your typical rocking horse. For one thing, he's only about 5" tall (which makes him difficult to ride for humans like us). But that's not really what makes this pony special--it's his personality. Sure, he's fast like his name suggests, and he's ridiculously adorable, but more than that, he's looking for a best friend. This horse will be as loyal as the day is long. He'll keep your secrets, he'll store your tiny treasures, and he'll love you til the end of time.

Spend the days gently rocking him or stroking his cut leather mane. Either way, this is one horse you simply can't live without.

(Reassembled using a vintage Dart nail box, tea strainer head, drawer handles rockers, and leather roller skate straps for mane and tail. 5 1/4" long, 2 1/4" wide, and 5" tall)

Custom Order: The Walker

I have a faithful customer that's asked me to make a special bot for her. She sent me the "foot powder" canister, a pedometer, and the feet, asking me to put them together. She wants a special bot for her daughter and son-in-law who are avid walkers.

I added arms that are already in the walking "swing" position (pieces of a leftover erector set). Then I gave him gold cog eyes as the base with a black washer on one side (more manly) and a black star washer on the other (more feminine) to represent both of them.

I'm thinking about adding a "sweatband" that might add to the exercise element.

It's always interesting to make something for a specific person. What would your dream bot be?

Tiny Workshop and Epic Robot

So this weekend, my workshop got significantly downsized. I haven't adjusted so well yet.

My real workbench is gone, and I'm finding it frustrating. There's not nearly enough surface space for possible appendages and/or mess-making.

But in other news, the EPIC robot is finally up for sale in my Etsy shop. This awesome music-playing, color-changing bundle of epic awesomeness can be yours!

You're welcome.

Reassembly Complete

I spent some time today in what's left of the workshop before my big work bench gets packed away in the POD. I will miss that bench.

Bitty Bot Break!

Mash Handmade needs more Bitty Bots. I always enjoy making them, although it can be challenging to keep each one unique.

Does Absence Make the Heart Grow Fonder?

I've been borderline MIA from the blog world in 2015. We're working on getting our house on the market . . . not just contemplating anymore, really working. After eight years of hard living by four young boys, the house needs its fair share of TLC.

The purging, decluttering, cleaning phase sucks. This was my bedroom early on.

Now I have to bob-and-weave to get in and out. It's an obstacle course to get to the bathroom at night. Maybe we should put a prize in there as reward for making it successfully--hmmm.

Plus, my robots went from carefree livin' to livin' in the dark. In a cabinet. In my room. Unseen.

Then this weekend, I started the arduous task of organizing, downsizing, and cleaning my workshop . . . all without stopping to make new robots. Apparently, prospective buyers are unlikely to enjoy miscellaneous metal shrapnel in their carpet. Whatever.

The line between chaos and progress is a bit fuzzy. Perhaps it's buried under there somewhere?

All this to say, I'll probably continue to be sporadic and unreliable. Fair warning.  Also, if you'd like to buy a lovely home . . .
