Day 198 - Robot Friends

I found these little guys at a craft store and thought they'd make a good "art" project for my kindergartener.  He kept hogging the markers, so I'm not quite done yet . . . because the fact that my life is an unorganized disaster has nothing to do with it.

Day 197 - Robotic Butterfly

I've been busy making new Steampunk jewelry for a local store, and I thought a robotic butterfly might be just what they need.

Post 196 - I Wrote It in Cursive!

My nine-year-old (who hates practicing cursive because he'll "never need it and the computer is so much faster") wrote this without any prompting.  Maybe it's finally clicking.  Norman found it impressive either way.  He can't even hold a pencil.

Day 195 - Call Me Tom Cruise

Norman climbed into the cockpit with confidence.  He'd seen Top Gun at least a dozen times.

"Tower, this is Ghost Rider requesting a flyby."

Day 194 - Norman, Under Attack

While docked at a refueling station, the Millennium Falcon came under attack.  Fortunately, Han Solo responded with his cat-like reflexes . . . because Norman's more of a lover than a fighter.

Day 193 - How 'bout a Haiku?

Since the Anagram challenge went SO well, I thought I'd try my hand at Noah's Day 39 suggestion:  Write a Haiku.

Creating robots
From the discarded relics
Of those days long gone.

And one more:

Seeing the unseen
And imagining what could be
To find my purpose.

Day 192 - And the Victory Goes to Anagrams

I was trying Noah's suggestion #287:  Create an anagram of your name and illustrate it.

It was an epic fail.

I gave up quickly:

Rebecca Jackson = Neck Jab Soccer
Rebecca Jackson = Race Be Jock Scan
Rebecca Jackson = Rec Jacks Beacon

So I tried with Robot A Day . . .

Robot A Day = A Rad Booty

Aunt Fanny from the movie "Robots"
 I gave up after that.

Day 190 - Miracle Machine

Clarification:  The little stick figure on hands and knees is my 4th son, not a dog, and one of his brothers suggested an added noise illustration coming from his bottom/diaper. This is what I live with.

Day 189 - Art Class

Today, I asked my kindergartener to draw a picture for his "art" time.  For some reason, he drew robots . . .

Then my oldest son decided he wanted to make a Cyclops Seashell Bot.

Day 188 - 52 Card Pickup

My littlest one got into some playing cards.  So while playing 52 Card Pickup (by myself), I decided to make a quick robot.

Day 186 - Play-a'

I made a K-State robot for a friend . . . even though we're avid KU fans.  Sometimes you gotta accept people for who they are.

He's rockin' KSU hair and sporting a "P" to remind the ladies he's a bit of a Play-a'.

Day 183 - Norman and The Rope

Norman had heard horror stories about "The Rope" in gym class.  Now, he understood.

Help.  Anyone?

Anyone . . .

Day 182 - We're Halfway There (Oh, oh, Livin' on a Prayer)

I'm calling today the halfway mark for my 365 project.  Woo-hoo!

Honestly, I'm surprised I've stuck with it.  Maybe I'm turning over a new leaf!

. . . Although, The Sketchbook Project required the sketchbooks to be postmarked by today, and I was frantically drawing, pasting, and spraying til the last possible moment.  Nothin' like procrastination-fueled panic.

(Sidenote: I used the drill press to make the "R" on the front!)

Day 181 - He's a Gem

Today, my son wanted to make a robot out of "gems" he rescued when I cleaned out my mosaic supplies a while back.  The red ones in the middle are buttons, okay?

Day 179 - What's Up? by Rylan

My middle son decided he also wanted to add a robot to The Sketchbook Project journal.  So instead of showing more random, half-finished journal pages, feast your eyes on this beauty . . .

Day 177 - Underground Octopus

We have a vortex in our backyard that is slowly pulling our house into it.  An underground octopus with robotic tentacles currently lives there.

Day 175 - Doodles

My journal for The Sketchbook Project has to be postmarked by Jan. 15.  So now I'm just doodling new robot ideas in random open spaces.  Why am I such a procrastinator?

Day 174 - It's Raining Nuts and Bolts Out There!

I haven't quite finished this project, but here's my progress for today.  I was trying for a 3-D look with some of the nuts and bolts.  Not sure how I feel about it overall--maybe it'll be better with color?

Day 171 - Patchwork Bot

I tried to do a mixed media collage on this page of the sketchbook: cardstock, felt, colored pencils, and permanent marker.

Day 170 - Norman Meets Second Semester

Even Norman seemed overwhelmed by the advent of the second semester.  Only five more months.

Day 169 - Baseball Bots

While I've been busy trying to finish my sketchbook for The Sketchbook Project, my oldest boy asked if he could create the official project of the day.  Here's his masterpiece:

Day 168 - I Resolve to . . .

I have a mild obsession with Italy.  Currently, I have close to a dozen travel guides and a whole big box full of information/pictures that I've amassed over recent years.  I plan to go there someday . . . though, I must admit, my plan seemed more attainable before kid #4 showed up rather unexpectedly.

However, today--the first day of a glorious new year--is the day for resolutions.  So I'm making an official resolution:

I resolve to achieve world domination through my robots, thus begetting untold riches which will, in turn, allow me to embark upon a leisurely tour of Italy.
