Today is my dad's 71st birthday, and what better way to say "Happy Birthday" than with a robotic representation of his favorite page from one of his favorite books? (And, yes, the pencil sharpener does indeed work.)

As noted, cats aren't really my thing, but the response to the silly cat robot has been weirdly positive. So much so that I had to make another for someone else. Here's the two choices I came up with:

Day 308 - The Beginning of the End?

In my illustrious career, I had yet to make a cat bot. It's no secret that I'm no cat lover. BUT . . . this really nice repeat customer asked me to make a kitten look-alike for her friend's daughter.



So I made the cat with a spool thread, playing on the cat/yarn love affair.  I figured the spool was kind of cream colored like Meadow (the afore-mentioned cat), so I added dark ears, nose, feet, and tail.  I even tried to color the eyes a blue color on top of the screws and, of course, I gave her a few little whiskers.



I'm not sure how I feel about this new development.  Mostly, I feel like a traitor.  Cats!
