It's a Family Thing
I was commissioned to make a tiny robot likeness of a customer's family. Though at first I felt daunted, I really enjoyed it and had fun.

Cy-Bot, Up for Adoption!
Some have made fun of Cy-Bot's one-eyed status, but, as my sweet bippy used to say, one eye's better than no eye at all. Cy-Bot takes it all in stride. He's comfortable with himself just as he is, one eye, mismatched arms, and all.
If we're honest, it's not like any of that matters when you've got a pair of legs like his. Those copper-coated legs are the envy of robots from miles around. And, anyway, when you take all these pieces together, Cy-Bot is one fine-lookin' bot.

He's Got Guts, Man
This daring Bitty Bot has embarked on a questionable mission. He's agreed to test the yet-unproven jet propulsion Bitty Bot add-on.
Putting all his faith in the vintage typewriter part that acts as a sturdy base, this little bot is still safely tethered to the earth, but gets to soar free like an eagle. (At least that's what the brochure told him.)
Here's hoping the jet propulsion engine doesn't blow up.
(Bonus: Spend hours upon hours spinning this little bot. The lack of a mouth ensures no unsavory side effects from motion sickness.)

A Robot Thanksgiving
Our fancy Thanksgiving dinner came in a box . . . a robot box! Where other people see cardboard, I see robots.
I know . . . it's a little weird.

Best Legs Ever!
I've been toying with this idea for a little while and finally implemented it.
May be my favorite legs ever!!

Tis the Season
Tis the season . . . for hedgeapples and Robot Rule (you know, that era when robots rule the world). It seems I've successfully indoctrinated my children with the robot obsession.

Blue - Newest Steampunk Fish Aquarium
These "aquariums" have been quite popular. This latest one is made using a cool vintage blue clock all the way from Bulgaria!

Hartz! Who Goes There?
With the fervent, though mismatched, eyes of
adventure, Hartz fearlessly surveyed the horizon. What would tomorrow
hold?
Nothing this bot can't handle. Bring it.

Some of the New Guys
These are a few of the newest bots. Ready for your adoption now!
Words like "hurry" or "worry" have no meaning to this bot. He's simply keeping it real . . . and chillin' like a villain.
Little Miss Cyclops sat on a cup, eating her nuts and bolts, when along came a . . . flower?
Some people wait a lifetime to pursue their dreams. Not Evie. As soon as her head was fastened to her body, she was off--traveling the world.

The Five Stages of Grief
So . . .
After 365 days of robot-single-mindedness, I fell hard.
It wasn't pretty, and it wasn't even original. Those five stages of grief? I slocked my way through them all.
DENIAL.
Seriously? Was it really over? But . . . but. . . I can't just stop making robots. Like an addict, I found Day 366 meant another robot, and then another the next day. I simply didn't post them. No one had to know, right? Because it couldn't really be over.
ANGER.
So, hey, why don't I find something that gives me purpose and creativity and satisfaction, then just stop because--lookie here, it's Day 365, and that's the magic number. Well, thanks a lot, Mr. Noah Scalin. You got me hook, line and sinker, then let Day 365 march in and pee all over my artistic fire. I did all that for what? This feeling of emptiness?
BARGAINING.
So what if . . . what if, I just kept going? An infinite number of robots are in me somewhere, I just know it. Let's pretend that whole Day 365 doesn't really mean anything, and I'll keep creating, and the world will cease to consider the concept of completion viable.
DEPRESSION.
It's over. I can't possibly do another whole year of robots. I'll just fail. Besides, what's so great about a second year? It's nothing. Meaningless. The newness, that farm-fresh feeling, is gone. Robots, shmobots.
ACCEPTANCE.
But at long last, I've pretty much come to terms with the inevitable end of such a great year. When I started, I never thought I'd make it a full 365 days, so I'm proud of what I've done. I'm still creating, and, although I don't have that same daily sense of accomplishment, I'm here. Still drilling. Still bolting. Still drawing.
And maybe, just maybe, I'll keep posting robots, even if it's not every day.

DAY 365 - The Finale
Here's to you, Norman. I couldn't have done it without you.
Disclaimer: First video attempt ever, so I can't quite figure out the resolution issues. On my computer, it looks great. But on YouTube, etc. it seems blurry or really small. I'll work on it.

Day 363 - Hammer Time
I was going to do an intricate, mind-blowing robot out of nails . . . then I realized my house is very loud already, and hammering doesn't improve my frazzled state of mind. So this will have to do. I think I'll hang it in my workshop.
