Day 348 - Top Gun Volleyball Scene . . . with Robots

The sand volleyball scene in Top Gun has stayed with me over the years.  My impressionable, young mind quickly absorbed the imprint of shirtless Tom Cruise in all his athletic, bad-boy glory. 

Day 347 - Film Can Side Table

Using some leftover "robot parts" to make a side table.  Large film canister table top with hardware design (will be covered in resin when done).  This will take a little bit of time.

Day 346 - Robo Lamp

Working on a new lamp. 

UPDATE: Edison the Robot Lamp now complete! I changed out the lamp base and added some "records" (painted clock parts) under him.

Day 345 - Spidey Sense

The RustMaker just felt his spidey-sense kick in.  Watch out, world.

I made a bot named Little Goldie a few years ago and recently came across a cousin canister.  It seemed like Goldie the Second was in order.

I've been hearing talk for a few months that narwhals are "in."  You may have already correctly deduced that I, however, am not so "in." 

BUT all that's changed.  See fancy robot/Steampunk narwhal below.  It's going to be a pendant after a trip to the drill press.

I also made a fancy Steampunk cuff.

My six-year-old was being ostracized by his two older brothers this morning, so I got out the paint.  Nothing cheers up a messy kid like the prospect of more messiness.

Day 331 - Wedding Bots

A customer bought a wedding gift from me and asked for a little note of congratulations to the robot-loving couple.

Day 330 - CrabBot?

I'm not sure I feel great about the direction this is going--sometimes the conception doesn't translate into reality.  He may need a total makeover, but here's his "first draft."  Looks kinda like a crab to me.

Day 329 - Sir Norman

Confident he looks as gallant (if not more so) as Heath Ledger in "A Knight's Tale," Sir Norman the Brave takes up his jousting stance and puts on his brooding, devil-may-care expression.

Day 328 - It's All in the Details

Secret commissioned project, utilizing discarded robot parts.

 

Day 327 - Lego Protection

I was passing by the bookcase when a sense of foreboding stole across my otherwise vacant mind.  I looked around and soon found myself staring down into the determined face of an angry little Lego man next to Brownie Bot.  Despite his "handyman" body and sweaty forehead, he looked quite comfortable with that plastic gun securely in his hand.  I slowly backed away.

Working on a Bingo-type game for my boys . . . with "dice" (one for the letter and one for the number).

 

 

Day 325 - Robot Shoes

I may often feel like I don't fit in with the other moms sitting on the sidelines, but with shoes like this, who cares?  Take that, people with button-up shirts!

Day 324 - Norman and the Sheriff

Although unable to explain the set of circumstances leading up to his current predicament, Norman could say unequivocally that, no, he did not feel lucky.

Day 323 - Stinky Bot

Trying to give my boys a visual for the positive effects of deodorant usage. 



Stinky Bot hasn't bothered to open his deodorant.  



Awesome Bot has opened his AND applied it.  My, what a difference!
